“Georgia’s independence and identity are the supreme values, without which nothing else can hold significance,” stated Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during his speech at the oath-taking ceremony of conscripts.
According to the Head of Government, never before, in the past two centuries has Georgia experienced such a level of independence as it does today.
“I greet each citizen of Georgia. I extend my greetings to our compatriots living abroad. I welcome the generals and soldiers. I congratulate the conscripts who swore allegiance to Georgia today. Happy Independence Day to everyone!
On this day, it is especially important to remind ourselves that, over the past two centuries, Georgia has never been as free and independent as it is now. Georgia’s independence and identity are the supreme values, without which nothing else can hold significance. Therefore, preserving these values must be our daily priority, and as the Head of the Government of Georgia, I promise that this will undoubtedly be the case. We must constantly remind ourselves that the struggle for Georgia’s independence and freedom is ongoing—it is a continuous process that endures even today.
Since restoring our statehood, Georgia has been on a 40-year biblical journey, akin to Moses leading the people to the Promised Land. For our country, the Promised Land signifies the realization of two core national dreams: first, a prosperous Georgia where no family lives in poverty; and second, a united Georgia—physically and spiritually—including Abkhazia and Samachablo—where people are bound together by love and solidarity,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
