The Armenian Parliament has begun reviewing an agreement on mutual assistance between the customs authorities of Armenia and the United States. The document, signed in June last year, was submitted for ratification by the government and is being discussed during a plenary session on January 22.

According to Rafael Gevorkyan, Deputy Chairman of Armenia’s State Revenue Committee, the agreement establishes a legal framework to enhance bilateral cooperation in the customs sphere. Particular focus is placed on simplifying procedures for information exchange between the customs services of the two countries.

Gevorkyan noted that the new agreement will not only strengthen existing ties between the customs authorities but also create additional opportunities for closer and mutually beneficial collaboration. Earlier, a representative of the State Revenue Committee highlighted that, with the support of the US government, significant changes are expected in the operations of several border checkpoints in Armenia this year.

The adoption of the agreement will enable a special framework for the exchange of information between the customs services of both nations, aimed at improving the efficiency of customs controls and simplifying procedures for participants in foreign economic activities.
