On August 15, the President of Armenia signed a decree appointing Gurgen Arsenyan as the new Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to the Russian Federation. This information was published on the official website of the President.

Gurgen Arsenyan, formerly a member of the Armenian National Assembly from the ruling "Civil Contract" faction, replaced Vagharshak Harutyunyan as Ambassador. Harutyunyan had previously served as Armenia’s Minister of Defense.

Prior to his appointment, on August 6, Arsenyan submitted a resignation letter to the Speaker of the National Assembly, relinquishing his parliamentary duties—an essential step for transitioning to diplomatic service.
