Giorgi Shengelia has been appointed as the new manager of the 52% stake in television channel POSTV owned by People’s Power MP Victor Japaridze. POSTV is subject to UK sanctions.
The change was filed with Georgia’s National Agency of Public Registry on September 22 by Temur Charelashvili, the channel’s executive director and holder of a 24% stake, and was reflected in the registry on September 23. Shengelia is the director and 100% owner of POSTV Supporters LLC, which he registered on February 25, 2026, the day after POSTV was sanctioned.
This is the second time Japaridze has transferred management of his 52% stake to another person. On January 28, nearly a month before the channel was sanctioned, Zaza Maridashvili, a former deputy mayor of Kaspi, was appointed manager of the stake.
Japaridze acquired the controlling stake in POSTV on October 3, 2022, for a total of GEL 520,000. The remaining 24% stakes are owned by Temur Charelashvili and Shalva Ramishvili, while US citizen Nugzar Rukhadze serves as director for public relations. Separately, on February 6, 2026, ownership of TV Imedi changed, with 50% of Georgian Media Production Group, the company owning TV Imedi, GDS and Radio Imedi, transferred by businessman Irakli Rukhadze’s holding to Prime Media Global.
