According to the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture, the government has made amendments to the Georgian Government's Resolution on the Quality Standards of Gasoline, which provides getting closer the petrol quality norms to European standards defined by the relevant European Directive.
"In particular, new parameters have been added to the quality standards of gasoline, which will improve the combustion process in vehicles. As a result, emissions of nitrogen dioxide and carbon dioxide into the air will be reduced. Adding new parameters will not affect the gasoline price.
In 2020, 301 petrol samples were taken from 252 petrol stations in two stages and the characteristics of lead, sulfur and octane number were determined. However, except for the violation of the octane number norm, no other types of violations were detected,” the ministry’s statement reads.
