Levan Davitashvili, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, stated that "no decisions regarding significant investment projects have been canceled, but of course, these processes may have affected the speed of decision-making. Regarding the Anaklia project, I believe we will meet the deadlines."
He added that construction work for the Anaklia port project is in the active phase.
"Naturally, I will say very directly that when businesses talk about current events, they assess that investment decisions might be delayed. From the information I have, no decisions have been canceled on major, important investment projects; however, these processes might have affected the speed of decision-making. We are optimistic. As soon as the situation stabilizes and all conditions are in place, these investment decisions will be realized, and by 2025, this part will also be very positive.
Regarding the Anaklia project specifically, as you know, it is proceeding according to the legislation. It is a competition announced under the 'Public and Private Partnership Law of Georgia.' We have one bidding company with which we are working on clarifications. The next phase of clarifications should be completed by the end of January. You know that we have hired two international consulting companies in this process, one of which is a Dutch company, mainly working on the substantive part. They are assessing the proposal, and accordingly, they are preparing a questionnaire on what needs to be clarified to ensure the proposal fully complies with the original competition requirements. We are currently at the stage of receiving proposals. Therefore, we have set a new deadline for the company to clarify the already identified questions and provide an updated proposal. This could be the second or third clarification to ensure we receive a high-quality proposal that serves Georgia's economic interests. We will have this by the end of January. At the same time, as you know, construction work is continuing uninterrupted. We had a presentation before the elections. Construction work is in the active phase, and I believe in the near future, the ministry will release an informational video for the public on how construction is progressing, which, I think, is moving faster than planned. I believe we will meet the deadlines," said Levan Davitashvili.
