The Tender Commission of the Municipal Development Fund has not selected a winning bidder in the GEL 876 million tender for the construction of a new stadium, citing the need to revise qualification requirements. The Ministry of Infrastructure released the announcement.
According to the Ministry, although several companies participated, only one bidder met the established qualification criteria. However, that bidder’s financial proposal was significantly higher than the offers submitted by other participants. As a result, the Commission invoked its legal authority to reassess and amend the tender documentation.
“Given that only one bidder satisfied the qualification standards and its price substantially exceeded the offers of other participants, the Commission exercised its legally granted right and determined that a re-evaluation of the conditions and corresponding changes to the tender documentation were necessary,” the Infrastructure Ministry stated.
The revised tender terms are expected to be published after the Commission updates the requirements, signaling that the stadium project will be delayed until the tender can be relaunched under updated conditions.
