Georgian companies could receive preferential treatment in state procurement tenders under a bill being prepared by the Ministry of Infrastructure. The initiative is included in the government’s list of 65 bills planned for submission to Parliament during the 2026 autumn session.
The proposed amendments to the Law on State Procurement could give local companies a price advantage when competing for contracts, including construction services.
According to the ministry, the bill would create a legal basis for granting local bidders a price preference in certain cases when evaluating tenders for goods, services or construction works.
The exact scope of the proposed preference, including how large the price advantage could be and which companies or tenders would qualify, remains unclear. BMG will seek further details on the planned legislation.
