Company Nugbari, located in Kakheti region, resumed production of Georgian traditional sweet Churchkhela using new equipment. The company took support from "EU Innovative Action for Private Sector Competitiveness in Georgia", which is part of the Joint Development Program of the European Union and the United Nations.
According to Nugbari, the project helped the company to purchase a new, modern machine. Using this device, Nugbari has introduced an innovative packaging technology that reduces food and production/packaging waste. The new machines use fully recyclable raw materials and have 30% less waste than traditional vacuum packaging machines.
Nugbari employs 60 persons and produces 5,000- 6,000 Churchkhelas daily. However, now both the number of employees and the products have almost doubled. "Nugbari" products were sold all over Georgia and were exported to more than 20 countries, including USA, Ukraine, Lithuania, Germany, China, Poland and Great Britain.
Nugbari notes that with this support, they have enough resources to produce 15,000 churckhela every day. According to them, the price of each in the market ranges from 2-5 GEL, and this value doubles for the New Year.
