The number of beneficiaries receiving subsistence allowance increased by 4 554 and exceeded 690 496 in December 2024.
Of these, almost 230 thousand people are employed by the state under a specially created program, within the framework of which these individuals maintain the status of socially vulnerable people and, accordingly 70.6 million GEL was spent on their assistance in December.
This includes both the provision of subsistence allowances, as well as the amount transferred within the framework of the state employment program. In the 2025 budget, a total of more than 1.6 billion GEL will be spent on social assistance, which also includes subsistence allowances.
In Georgia, the subsistence allowance program provides financial assistance to the poorest families with a rating score of less than 120,001. The rating score is determined by the Social Services Agency and reflects the family's income and assets. Since the government launched the State Program for Promoting Public Employment, those involved in this program are no longer checked by the agency and their status remains unchanged for four years.
