In the first half of this year, the number of international cargo transportations by road transport belonging to Azerbaijan was 122,049, up 67% from the same period last year, Report informs, citing the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.
According to the information, growth dynamics are also observed in the indicators of third-country transportation by road transport belonging to Azerbaijan. Azerbaijani carriers carried out 27,743 third-country shipments (from a foreign country to another foreign country) in January-June of 2023, while this indicator was 14,151 in January-June 2022.
In 2022, the ratio of shipments carried out by Azerbaijani carriers for third-country transportation to non-oil exports was 6%. In 6 months of 2023, this indicator reached 9.4%. According to AYNA's calculations, in the first half of the current year, the value of the export of international cargo transportation services of the third country was $166.55 million. This is twice as much as compared to the same period last year.
In 2022, the ratio of shipments carried out by Azerbaijani carriers on bilateral transports to non-oil exports was 15.5%. In 6 months of this year alone, this indicator was 21.5%. In the first half of 2023, the value of exports of bilateral international cargo transportation services is estimated at $377.2 million, 60% more than the same period last year.
Overall, the income generated by international freight transportation with automobile transport belonging to Azerbaijan, which occupies a significant place in the composition of non-oil exports, is estimated at $543.7 million for the first 6 months of 2023. The ratio of this to non-oil exports is 30.7%.
