The Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency monitoring the nut market in order to assess the competitive environment in the market. According to the interim report, the biggest volume of nut exports was recorded in 2021, totaling 365.6 million GEL. The export value was reduced in 2022 and 2023, from 276.8 million to 218.2 million GEL.
Considering the total market share of large companies and the number of other undertakings, the market is low concentrated. In the study period, the total share of five significant enterprises did not exceed 47%, there is no dominating undertaking in the market, and one of the necessary conditions for group dominance in the form of market shares does not exist.
The country exports nuts in both shelled and unshelled form. Shelled nut exports accounted for 68-81% of total exports in 2020-2023. The majority of exports are carried out in Italy (32%) and Germany (20%).
