A total of 15 million tonnes of oil was transported through the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline in the first eight months of 2026. In August, shipments fell by 1 million tonnes compared with July, reaching 2 million tonnes, according to the Georgian Oil and Gas Corporation. The Baku–Supsa pipeline remained suspended.
Since July, SOCAR has taken over operation of the BTC pipeline from BP, ending BP’s role as operator of both pipelines running through Georgia.
SOCAR holds a 32.97% stake in BTC, followed by BP with 30.10%. Other shareholders include MOL, TPAO, Eni, TotalEnergies, ITOCHU, ONGC Videsh, ExxonMobil and INPEX.
