Ombudsman of Georgia Levan Ioseliani came to the Parliament where the protest against the Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence takes place.
Ioseliani says he cannot say at the moment whether the force used by the MIA was proportionate or not.
"I came to see people who had problems with their eyes and who are now in ER. I assessed their situation. I also called on MIA not to use the force that is not proportionate. I will stay till the security of people is in danger" - Ioseliani stated.
The newly appointed Ombudsman was bombarded with eggs by protestants.
The police used water cannons and teargas in a crackdown on a protest against the so-called Foreign Agents bills at the Georgian Parliament building. Participants in the rally are protesting the People’s Power-tabled so-called Foreign Agents bills. The Parliament approved the proposed legislation On the Transparency of Foreign Influence in its first reading earlier today.
