According to the Tbilisi Mayor, the opposition is convinced that they have no chance in the local self-government elections, which is why they are packaging this with political reasoning that they will not participate.
“What’s really happening is that we don’t have political parties in the form of opposition. We have a radical group that simply follows instructions. They weren’t interested in the 2024 elections either.
How can you imagine a political party that participates in elections and is interested in elections and the country’s fate not going out and talking to people? It’s unimaginable, isn’t it? It’s nonsense.
The elections ended without them conducting an election campaign, they couldn’t meet with people, but there’s an explanation and reason for this. These people are simply carrying out orders, and their main task is somehow to cause a coup d’état in the country, a revolution, confrontation among people, and so on, to use people to pursue their interests, as happened several months ago during the protests – violent groups would send these young people to the front while themselves would sometimes drink hot tea, sometimes enjoy coffee. This was the reality.
Regarding the local self-government elections, they are convinced that they are doomed to fail. They have no chance to succeed in any district or municipality. They’re packaging this with political reasoning that they won’t participate,” Kakha Kaladze told journalists in response to a relevant question.
According to him, the ruling team has already started preparations for the local self-government elections. It will present its future vision to the public shortly.
