"It is clear to everyone what we have been emphatically discussing for a long time: the opposition has been preparing not for the elections but for the post-election period, aiming for upheaval, disorder, and public confrontation,” stated Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze during a municipal government meeting.
Kaladze emphasized that Georgia’s government is committed to safeguarding the interests of the country and its citizens.
“The government has the support and trust of the vast majority of the Georgian population, as demonstrated in the recent elections, where 1,120,000 people voted for peace, prosperity, economic development, and a dignified European future. I want to thank these individuals once again. The Georgian government will champion our nation’s interests and will not allow the implementation of scenarios scripted abroad by stateless agents who operate comfortably within our borders. The government has taken numerous steps to prevent this, some of which have been difficult and, I must admit, unpopular, but they have proven to be correct and are aimed at defending our country’s interests. The information we have mandated to be transparent is available for anyone to review and analyze the ongoing processes,” he noted.
Kaladze further asserted that any attempt at implementing a “Ukrainization plan” in Georgia would fail, stating that state institutions are strong and effective and that no one will permit the country’s collapse.
“We recall the Prime Minister’s statement from November 28, where he elaborated that Georgia continues its European integration efforts. We have signed the Association Agreement, which serves as our roadmap, and we are committed to following this process consistently. He also mentioned that we will not be subjected to blackmail again, as was the case previously when candidate status was used as a tool for coercion. This time, the opening of negotiations is being exploited for the same purpose.
We have had extensive discussions on this matter, and I do not believe there is anyone left in the country who fails to understand the reality of the situation. Perhaps there were some misunderstandings or miscommunications, but we explain our European integration efforts daily. I think the message is clear. We are a dignified people, a nation with a rich culture, traditions, and a proud history that we cherish, and we hold great interest in the European community,” Kaladze concluded.
