Telavi Airport "Mimino" will be launched from 2024. As Maka Gligvashvili, commercial director of "Lopota Spa Resort" located in Kakheti, told BM.GE, they don’t know at this stage that the airport in Telavi will bring any results in terms of tourism, but if international flights will be fulfilled it will grow tourism flows.
"Our dream is to have international flights in Telavi. We have been talking about this for years and it will be a great achievement for us. Many tourist groups choose Tbilisi and the demand for Kakheti is very low," Gligvashvili said.
According to her, their hotel was operating with 60%-load last year, noting that high-spending tourist flows from Israel and the United Arab Emirates are significantly reduced. Their reduction will harm tourism.
Today, the hotel complex has 232 rooms and employs 350 people. The average cost of a hotel stay, including breakfast and VAT amounts to USD 210 during the summer season.
