Adjara’s citrus season has successfully concluded, according to the region’s Chairman, Sulkhan Tamazashvili. Speaking alongside Agriculture Minister Denis Salukvadze, Tamazashvili met with members of the Citrus Coordination Headquarters and managers of citrus-receiving and processing enterprises to review the season.

Tamazashvili emphasized that coordinated efforts allowed the citrus season to proceed smoothly, with minimal disruptions. “Over 27,000 tons of standard mandarins were exported, valued at more than GEL 43 million. In addition, more than 14,000 tons of non-standard mandarins were processed, for which up to GEL 5 million in subsidies were provided. We will continue to support farmers to further develop agriculture in the region,” he said.

The meeting also discussed the results achieved during the season and ways to address ongoing challenges, with particular focus on farmer support mechanisms, citrus sales processes, and improving product quality. The Citrus Coordination Headquarters, operating in cooperation with Georgia’s Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, was active throughout the two-month season.

During the 2025–2026 citrus season, over GEL 2.5 million from the government reserve fund was allocated to support the sale of non-standard mandarins. More than 20 companies were involved in exporting standard mandarins, while two canning factories in Kobuleti processed the non-standard fruit. The meeting was attended by the Head of the Adjara Government Administration, members of the Supreme Council, and the mayors of Kobuleti and Khelvachauri.
