Large-scale water supply and sewage infrastructure projects are underway in Vani, Baghdati, and Samtredia, with a total budget exceeding EUR 150 million, the United Water Supply Company of Georgia announced. Deputy Minister Giorgi Koberidze and company representatives recently inspected the progress of the works on site.
In Vani, 42 km of water supply and 47 km of sewage networks, along with 5 km of drainage systems, are planned. Baghdati will see the construction of 41 km of water supply, 46.5 km of sewage, and 19 km of drainage networks. Samtredia’s project includes 200 km of water supply and 145 km of sewage networks, plus 30 km of drainage systems. Wells, pumping stations, SCADA systems, and renovations of existing facilities will also be included in all three cities.
To minimize environmental impact, wastewater treatment plants will be constructed as part of the projects. The works are being financed by the state budget and the German Reconstruction Bank (KfW).
Once completed, the projects will ensure 24-hour water supply and fully renovated sewage systems for residents, with construction expected to finish between 2025 and 2026.
