Georgia’s Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said Nana Keinishvili’s resignation from the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) Council complied with all legal procedures, but he could not confirm whether he had received and read her resignation letter.
Under Georgian law, an NBG Council member must submit written notice to the Speaker at least two months before resigning. The resignation takes effect on the date specified in the notice.
Papuashvili also said he had not personally discussed Keinishvili’s replacement with President Mikheil Kavelashvili.
Keinishvili announced her resignation on October 17, citing the interests of the state and the NBG’s reputation. She denied allegations of improper business activity and influence. Her departure followed a criminal investigation into alleged unlawful business involvement linked to cryptocurrency company Bitxchange.
