The Parliament of Georgia has approved Mamuka Mdinaradze as the new head of the State Security Service.

Mdinaradze’s candidacy was put to a vote during today’s plenary session and received the support of 85 members of parliament, with no votes against.

Following the vote, Speaker of the Parliament Shalva Papuashvili congratulated Mdinaradze on his appointment and wished him success in his new role.

“Praising his work over three convocations of the Georgian Parliament, I am confident that Mamuka Mdinaradze will be an outstanding head of the State Security Service. He will further strengthen the security system, maintaining peace and supporting Georgia’s growth amid regional uncertainties and challenges. We wish him the same success he achieved as a member of parliament and majority leader,” Papuashvili said.
