The Parliament passed the draft law on amendments to the law on the Procedure for Registering Citizens of Georgia and Aliens Residing in Georgia, for Issuing an Identity (Residence) Card and a Passport of a Citizen of Georgia in the third reading, with 82 votes.
Anri Okhanashvili, Chairman of the Legal Issues Committee, presented the draft law to the parliamentarians.
According to the document, if the date of birth indicated in the identity document issued before April 1, 2024, differs from the date of birth indicated in the record of the birth act and/or birth certificate of its owner, on every new identity card of a citizen of Georgia and every new passport of a citizen of Georgia issued to this person after April 1, 2024, with their consent, the same date of birth as indicated in the mentioned identity document issued before April 1, 2024, will be entered. The same change will apply to the official passport.
Parliament endorsed the legislative package.
