The Budget and Finance Committee discussed for the I reading the Draft Law on Local Fees establishing the container fees. The general principles of the Draft were elucidated by MP Giorgi Khakhubia.
According to him, the maximal realization of the transit corridor potential of the country is one of the priorities of the state policy along with the conversion of Georgia into a logistic regional hub; however, the key task remains to maintain and further develop the infrastructure for international shipping.
“And deriving from this very ground, the amendments are introduced to the Law with the key objective to allow the municipalities engaged in sea forwarding to, by establishing local fees, create the infrastructure necessary for effective functioning of international shipping system”, - he stated.
The amount of the container fees is determined by at most 30 GEL. The respective changes are to be introduced to the Law on Basic Principles of the System of Fees and the Budget Code.
The legal initiative belongs to MPs Giorgi Khakhubia, Archil Talakvadze, Giorgi Chakvetadze, Irakli Chikovani, Ketevan Charkviani, Salome Kurasbediani, Edisher Toloraia, Irakli Kirtskhalia and Gocha Enukidze.
The Draft was initiated by MPs Paata Kvizhinadze, Zaal Mikeladze, Irakli Zarkua, Gogi Meshveliani, Bezhan Tsakadze, Beka Liluashvili, Irakli Kirtskhalia, Anton Obolashvili and Alexander Rakviashvili.
