“The main source of violence was the party offices. Once we entered these offices and removed the means used for violence, the violence immediately ceased,” said the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, during a briefing at the Government Administration.
According to the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Internal Affairs did not need to take action as long as violent groups were not involved.
“Yesterday, it was confirmed that only political forces and parties were behind the failed ‘Nats-maidan.’ The primary source of violence came from the party offices, and as soon as we entered and removed the appropriate means, the violence stopped. You saw that the violent party groups no longer had the means to carry out violence. Once the source of violence was removed, the Ministry of Internal Affairs did not need to respond. As we had stated, when there was no violence from protesters or violent groups, there was no need for the Ministry of Internal Affairs to intervene,” the Prime Minister added.
