Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan commented on the meeting between Armenia, the United States, and the European Union, which took place in Brussels on April 5, during a parliamentary session on April 10.
According to him, this event was never aimed at security issues.
"It is clear that the EU and the United States would never be willing to provide Armenia with economic and political support if they considered our policy aggressive," Pashinyan noted during the discussion of the report on the progress and results of the government's program for 2021-2026.
Pashinyan also expressed his opinion on the political context of this meeting. According to him, the meeting itself was unprecedented in format and significance, as it was dedicated to socio-economic and political aspects.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the European Union and the United States expressed their support for the Armenian government's "Crossroad of Peace" project. In his opinion, this meeting signaled the elevation of relations between Armenia and the United States, as well as between Armenia and the EU to a new level.
"It is important to note what was not said at the high-level meeting in Brussels on April 5. This is not about the EU and the US solving our problems. I believe it is important to emphasize this," added Pashinyan.
He also emphasized that the development of relations with the United States and the European Union does not contradict regional relations.
Earlier, BMG reported that on April 5, a summit was held in Brussels dedicated to supporting democratic reforms and economic stability in Armenia. Following the meeting, the European Union and the United States promised to allocate €270 million and $65 million to Armenia, respectively.
