During the World Armenian Summit on September 18, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan addressed two important regional issues.
Responding to a question about Armenia’s participation in the COP-29 conference, which will take place in Azerbaijan, Pashinyan stated that a final decision has not yet been made.
Regarding the idea of creating a South Caucasus regional union, the prime minister expressed caution, noting that a concrete assessment of such a project would require familiarity with the details.
Instead, Pashinyan focused on Armenia's "Crossroads of Peace" initiative, describing it as an alternative approach to regional cooperation.
According to Pashinyan, the "Crossroads of Peace" project represents a unique way of thinking and acting at the regional level.
Earlier, BMG reported that in late October 2023, Armenia presented the "Crossroads of Peace" project, which essentially is the Armenian version of a project aimed at unlocking communications in the region after the 44-day war.
From Yerevan's point of view, this is one of the components of the process of establishing a durable peace in the South Caucasus, and if implemented, it could change Armenia's status, helping it to emerge from isolation and become a logistical hub in the region.
