Patients' Co-Payments Down From 27% To 10% After Implementation Of DRG System - Report

The National Health Agency published the report for 2023. According to the agency, 94.7% of the population of Georgia was covered by the universal healthcare system.

About a million people and 2,823,000 medical cases were financed with GEL 1.3 billion.

According to the agency's assessment, last year, the government allocated GEL 749,758,137 from the budget to implement the DRG system.

As a result, 488,615 medical cases were financed and 357,000 people were served. As a result of the implementation of the DRG system, patient co-payments decreased from 27% to 10%. Also, after introducing the system, the amount to be paid by the beneficiary decreased by 62%.
