Peach Imports/Exports Decline in 5M25 - Georgia Imports More Than It Exports

ხილი

In the first five months of 2025, both peach imports and exports in Georgia decreased, with imports surpassing exports, according to official trade data.

The domestic peach harvesting season, which typically begins in May, was delayed this year due to unfavorable weather, resulting in a late crop and postponed harvests.

Between January and May 2025, Georgia imported 213 tons of peaches valued at approximately USD 94,000, a 73% decrease compared to the same period last year. The majority of imported peaches and nectarines came from Turkey, followed by a small volume from Azerbaijan (1 ton worth USD 1,000).

On the export side, Georgia sold 49 tons of peaches worth USD 61,000, all of which were shipped exclusively to Armenia.

The data reflects a temporary slowdown in both trade directions, largely influenced by weather-related delays in the local harvest and shifting seasonal dynamics in regional markets.
