Georgia saw a notable increase in the cost of live pig imports in 2025. In the first 11 months of the year, the country purchased 19,955 tons of live pigs worth $36.96 million, compared to 19,159 tons worth $29.32 million in the same period last year. Both the value and volume of imports increased.
According to official data, the average import price per kilogram rose from $1.5 last year to $1.8 in 2025, indicating a clear rise in import costs.
All live pigs imported into Georgia this year came exclusively from Russia, meaning the overall increase in import prices is directly linked to higher prices for Russian livestock.
