Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia met with Claudia Arpa, President of the Federal Council of the Republic of Austria.
Close cooperation between the countries, positive recommendation of the European Commission and significant steps made by Georgia towards a fully-fledged membership of the European Union were among the topics of discussion at the meeting.
Positive recommendation of the European Commission issued towards the European Council on granting the status of an EU Candidate Country to Georgia was discussed today. As the Prime Minister of Georgia noted, this recommendation is a clear recognition of the intensive work carried out by the country, along with its results; Georgia is consistently striding towards EU integration.
The Head of Government of Georgia expressed hopes that the Republic of Austria will continue supporting Georgia on its journey towards European integration.
Focus of the meeting was made on the existing close friendly relations between Georgia and Republic of Austria. New avenues were also discussed for further deepening the current cooperation between the countries.
The Prime Minister of Georgia expressed his gratitude to the President of the Federal Council of the Republic of Austria for supporting the sovereignty, territorial integrity and European quest of Georgia.
