Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia met Anna Maria Siko, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Hungary to Georgia on Thursday.
The Head of Government of Georgia expressed gratitude to the diplomat for the active support of Georgia at the international arena, thereby noting that the historic decision on granting the status of the EU Candidate Country has vividly demonstrated the progress achieved by Georgia on its path to EU integration.
The Prime Minister also expressed hopes that Hungary will continue supporting Georgia towards this end, especially when the country plans to advance to a new phase and to open negotiations for EU accession. It was highlighted that under the upcoming EU Presidency, Hungary's support is vital in this process. Dignitaries also reviewed the opportunities of further intensification of sectoral linkages between Georgia and Hungary. Importance of cooperation and full use of the potential existing towards this end has been underlined in areas such as trade, economics, energy, education and culture.
