Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has declared that the country's relationship with the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) has reached a point of no return. This statement was made in parliament on December 4, in response to recent remarks by Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding the CSTO's inability to engage in the Karabakh conflict.

During a parliamentary Q&A session, Pashinyan emphasized that Armenia faced acts of aggression in both 2021 and 2022. He noted that these incidents occurred despite Armenia warning its allies about the escalating risks.

"We were told that such aggression couldn't happen because Armenia's borders were a red line for the CSTO. When the violation occurred, we reported that the red line had been crossed. In response, we were told the borders were not demarcated. We then asked: where is this red line? Show us, so we can define our relationship with the CSTO accordingly," the Prime Minister said.

Pashinyan stated that Armenia no longer participates in drafting CSTO documents or making proposals, instead merely refraining from vetoing them. "The situation increasingly complicates Armenia's return to the CSTO, and we have already crossed the point of no return," he concluded.

Earlier, BMG reported that in November, Armenia skipped a joint CSTO meeting in Astana. This decision followed Armenia's previously announced suspension of participation in CSTO activities. In February 2024, Pashinyan declared Armenia's de facto suspension of membership in the organization, citing the CSTO's failure to fulfill its obligations to Armenia.
