Potato Exports Have Increased Sharply - Georgia Received $13.4 MLN In Revenue In 3M25

Potato exports from Georgia increased sharply in the first quarter. According to official data from Geostat, the country received $13 million 461 thousand in revenue from the sale of 43,465 tons of products. While in the same period last year, the export of fresh or frozen potatoes did not exceed $358 thousand, and the volume did not exceed 1,077 tons. The increase is 3,652%. Potato exports from Georgia during this period of the year are record-breaking. Moreover, the figures for potatoes sold abroad in 3 months exceed the total export of the product in 2024 [$7.5 million, 35,002 tons].

At the beginning of the year, the geography of potato exports from the country also expanded. Georgia exported the largest amount of agricultural products to Russia and Azerbaijan. It should also be noted that in the 3 months of last year Georgia sold potatoes only to Azerbaijan.

The ranking of exporting countries for January-March 2025:

Russia - $10.1 million, 25,705 tons;

Azerbaijan - $2.6 million, 14,528 tons;

Armenia - $521 thousand, 2,447 tons;

Kazakhstan - $84 thousand, 394 tons;

Turkmenistan - $47 thousand, 239 tons;

Moldova - $18 thousand, 129 tons;

Uzbekistan - $4 thousand, 22 tons.

In 2024, Georgia will produce 221,100 tons of potatoes, an annual increase of 12.1%. The yield increased by 3.4 tons compared to 2023, reaching 15 tons per hectare.
