During an official visit to Astana, President of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan stated that the economic indicators of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) demonstrate the real effectiveness of the organization.

In an interview with "Kazinform" during his visit, President Khachaturyan evaluated the work of the EAEU over the 10 years of its existence.

The Armenian leader highlighted the effectiveness of the EAEU, emphasizing the importance of close cooperation between member states in addressing shared economic challenges.

Khachaturyan endorsed the stance of Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the need to separate economics and politics within the EAEU framework. However, he acknowledged the difficulty of completely separating these two spheres in practice. He stressed that EAEU member states maintain their political independence while striving for mutually beneficial economic collaboration within the Union.

The President expressed confidence that this approach will enable EAEU countries to develop economic ties effectively without interfering in each other's internal political matters.

Armenia joined the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in January 2015.

Within the EAEU, free movement of goods, services, capital, and labor is guaranteed, alongside the implementation of coordinated or unified economic policies. These measures are outlined in the Treaty on the EAEU of May 29, 2014, and in international agreements within the Union.
