Nino Menteshashvili, head of FEDEX Georgia decalres, that more Georgian citizens are using e-commerce due to the low prices and a wide selection of products.
"Electronic commerce is developing quite quickly, we see this trend all over the world and in Georgia as well. This is due to the fact that the services that e-commerce needs are very well developed. In addition to internet platforms, the main thing is the delivery services, which are improved quite well. As we know, postal services in Georgia are fully liberalized. This means that we have free competition in the sector, and as in other developed countries, free competition leads to perfect services.
Customers are both Georgian citizens and migrants. In Georgia, we complain a little about the amount of assortment. Retail chain stores cannot offer the same wide selection as the same European brands, the prices are also different, and therefore more citizens use online sales," said Menteshashvili.
According to statistics for the last 1 year, the total volume of e-commerce has increased by 37%. As of the Ministry of Finance, the total number of shipments amounted to 13,319,043, which was 36.6% more compared to the same period of 2023.
