Irakli Garibashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia explored the rehabilitated houses in Abastumani, which were originally built in XIX, XX centuries on its central street.

The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia carried out the rehabilitation works in 2020 with financial support of the World Bank in the value of 5.7 MLN GEL.

Emergency reinforcement works were performed at several houses. Houses with wooden balconies of rare architecture have decorations and nave roofs characteristic to the original period.

As the Prime Minister of Georgia noted, projects implemented in Abastumani will lead to an increased inflow of tourists in the region and to the employment of local population.

Currently, several dozen of other historic houses are being identified for the following phase of rehabilitation. They will be recovered within the scope of the second stage of the project branded as Urban Renovation of Abastumani.
