The Public Defender’s Office reported about a meeting between Public Defender Levan Ioseliani and European parliamentarians currently in Georgia.
According to the agency, Levan Ioseliani discussed current events with the MEPs.
“On December 12, the Public Defender of Georgia, Levan Ioseliani, met with members of the European Parliament visiting Georgia. During the meeting, the Public Defender introduced the guests to the office’s mandate and authority and spoke about the institution’s role in current events, including the mechanisms for processing and transferring information about detained and injured persons during protests.
The MEPs were also interested in the level of independence and freedom of action of the Public Defender’s office.
The first deputy Public Defender, Tamar Gvaramadze, also attended the meeting,” the Public Defender’s office reported.
