The number of fines issued for fare evasion on Tbilisi's public transport network increased sharply in 2026. According to Georgia's Treasury Service, fines collected between January and May totaled GEL 1.34 million, representing a 74% increase compared to the same period last year.
With the fare evasion penalty set at GEL 20, the data suggests that more than 67,000 fines were issued during the five months.
Ticket inspections on Tbilisi's public transport system are carried out by the monitoring service of Tbilisi Transport Company.
