The Government of Georgia plans to complete the work on COVID-benefits for the fully vaccinated population in the first week of July 2021 and present them in the initial form.
As Shota Burjanadze, head of the Restaurant Association and the owner of the restaurant "Steakhouse" explains, the initiative about the benefits to fully vaccinated citizens was announced during the meeting with representatives of the sector, which was approved by government officials. However, the restaurateur is skeptical about this issue and declares:
"They may be working on benefits for fully vaccinated citizens, but since I have initiated this issue at the meeting at the Ministry of Economy, I have not been contacted since. How can we talk about the benefits of vaccination when we do not have a vaccine in the country?
I would like to tell you that at the time of naming the vaccination priority groups in the tourism industry, the interest of the industry has been lower, but today demand is increased. They want, but there is no vaccine,” said Shota Burjanadze.
The owner of the restaurant "Steakhouse" says that the development of benefits for fully vaccinated citizens will be justified if the vaccination rate reaches at least 40%. Shota Burjanadze also talks about the possible benefits for vaccination from his restaurant.
"Specifically, in my restaurant, a vaccinated person will receive a discount, and an employee will receive an additional salary. In the case of consumers, the discount will be from 10 to 20%. However, making this offer at this stage can be considered discriminatory, because it will be an opportunity for a very small part, "- said the restaurateur.
