"Low-quality face masks are brought in the country from China and India", - Sergo Galustian, owner of company Respirator Ltd told BM.GE.
According to producers, a number of unscrupulous importers is operating on the market today, who bring cheap face masks to the country.
According to them, counterfeit documents are often presented at the border in order to turn a non-medical face mask into the medical one and exempt the importer from VAT.
"A lot of videos and audio materials are published in the media that England, the Netherlands and Germany have returned low-quality face masks to China. None of the facemasks has returned from Georgia to China because we do not have any standards either in terms of customs or documentation. Low-quality facemasks are imported into the country from China and India, some of them have a smell that you cannot wear at all. Unfortunately, these products are not certified.
There are two options to solve the problem, one is demanding documentation and the second - having a laboratory that will check standards of the imported or locally produced face masks," said Sergo Galustian, founder of Respirator.
