In 2024, Georgia's rebar imports increased by 67.1%. According to the 11-month foreign trade report published by Geostat, in January-November of last year, 351,671 tons of rebar worth $200.4 million were imported into Georgia. In addition, the average import price has also decreased amounting to $570 per ton this year, compared to $600 in the same period in 2023.
According to statistics, in 2024, Georgia mainly purchased rebar from Russia and Iran. Of these, imports of Russian rebar increased by 112% in 2024, to $104.1 million, while imports of rebar from Iran increased by 136%, to $80.1 million. The increase in imports from both countries is likely related to a decrease in the purchase price. If in 2023 the price of Russian rebar was $591, this year it costs $586, while the import price of Iranian rebar decreased from $576 to $547 per ton.
