The complete rehabilitation of Kakutsa Cholokashvili and Giorgi Tsereteli streets in the Vake district has been completed, city officials announced. The project was inaugurated by Tbilisi Mayor and ruling party mayoral candidate Kaha Kaladze.
The project, covering 13,000 square meters, included the renewal of underground utilities and modernization of the road infrastructure to contemporary standards. According to the municipality, the total cost of the works amounted to 24 million GEL.
Mayor Kaladze, accompanied by Vice Mayor Giorgi Tkemaladze and City Assembly Chairman Zurab Abashidze, inspected the finished project. He stated, “We have completed another important infrastructure project. As part of the rehabilitation of Cholokashvili and Tsereteli streets, underground communications were updated, new lighting was installed, and the area was greened. I thank the local residents for their patience and the companies that worked around the clock. Similar projects will continue in the future.”
The municipality also reported that the project involved updates to the water supply, sewer, stormwater, and gas supply systems, as well as relocating power lines underground, constructing sidewalks, and laying a new asphalt surface. For safety, a reinforced concrete retaining wall was built near the Vake cemetery.
Both streets were equipped with energy-efficient LED lights, around 40 underground trash bins, “smart” traffic lights, and road signage. The infrastructure was adapted for people with special needs.
In addition, irrigation systems were installed in outdoor areas, 180 seedlings of various species were planted, and 2,100 square meters of grass were laid. The renovated streets now connect with the rehabilitated Chavchavadze Avenue and Tsneti highway.
