“Mamuka Khazaradze’s family only contacted us after information first spread in the media about the non-existence of a rental contract, and then an investigation into the matter began,” the Revenue Service said in a statement.
According to the agency, claims by Khazaradze and his party colleagues that they discovered a “technical misunderstanding” and voluntarily settled their tax debt to the budget are false.
“Given the high public interest, we want to respond once again to the rental relationship between Mamuka Khazaradze’s family and the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, which the Revenue Service is investigating.
We emphasise that claims by Khazaradze and his party colleagues that they discovered a ‘technical misunderstanding’ and voluntarily settled their tax debt to the budget are false.
Mamuka Khazaradze’s family only approached the Revenue Service to request tax declarations after media reports surfaced about the absence of a rental contract between the parties, prompting the Revenue Service to initiate an investigation. At this time, the Revenue Service has requested documentation for a comprehensive study of the issue, including from Khazaradze’s family, and has also requested information from the Chamber of Notaries and Public Registry to determine whether a contract actually existed between the parties.
Additionally, the Revenue Service has requested documentation of bank transfers from Khazaradze’s family to verify the actual income received from the Federal Republic of Germany, aiming to assess compliance with budget obligations.
The Revenue Service calls on Mamuka Khazaradze’s family to cooperate with the agency and timely present all documentation necessary for a comprehensive study of the issue,” the Revenue Service statement said.
For reference, the Revenue Service stated on August 4 regarding Mamuka Khazaradze’s family renting real estate property to the German Ambassador. As noted in the statement, analysis of the issue revealed possible tax law violations, prompting the Revenue Service to launch an investigation into the facts.
Later, Mamuka Khazaradze published a social media post stating that “a budget tax issue was discovered regarding the rental contract with Peter Fischer,” and the outstanding taxes have now been fully paid.
