The heavy machinery has been mobilized near the village of Babili, where a landslide occurred, and road clearing operations are underway, stated Gia Oniani, Mayor of Lentekhi Municipality.
According to Oniani, the road is expected to be cleared within a few hours. Representatives from the Central Road Department and local authorities are also on site. They noted that the road will reopen to traffic as soon as possible.
No injuries have been reported as a result of the landslide. Earlier today, the Roads Department of the Ministry of Infrastructure announced that vehicle traffic is temporarily prohibited on a section of the Kutaisi-Tskaltubo-Tsageri-Lentekhi-Lasdili road due to the landslide.
