Georgia’s Roads Department has announced an electronic tender for the construction of a new road bridge over the Mtkvari River in Khashuri Municipality, replacing the existing pedestrian bridge, as well as an access road. The project has an estimated value of up to GEL 9.5 million and will be fully funded by the state budget.
The existing pedestrian bridge near the village of Sative does not allow trucks and passenger vehicles to cross safely. As a result, drivers must take an additional 9-kilometer route via Akhaldaba to reach the village from the Khashuri-Akhaltsikhe-Vale highway.
The access road between Akhaldaba and Sative is also largely in poor condition and passes through difficult terrain, with several sections becoming almost impassable during bad weather.
According to the Roads Department, construction of the new bridge and access road will significantly shorten the distance and travel time to Sative, reduce transportation costs and provide residents with safer and more convenient access to the central road network.
