Russia accounts for about 40% of foreign investments in Armenia, Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin said in an interview with Kentron TV channel. He recalled that Russian investments in Armenia are close to $2 billion.

"Traditionally Russia is Armenia's leading trade and economic partner. Our trade turnover is growing dynamically exceeding $3 billion in the first 9 months of this year," he said.

According to him, there is an increasing interest from Russian regions, including the largest ones, in the Armenian market and economy.

"Our ties are diversifying in such areas as energy, high technologies, food industry, tourism, transport and logistics," he added.

The ambassador reminded that a joint working group was set up to promote development of strategic cooperation between the two countries with participation of representatives of Russian state atomic energy agency Rosatom, Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia and other agencies including Ministry of Hi-Tech Industry.

"It's not only energy, but also new technologies, new materials, creation of information data bank - these are the areas in which Rosatom works," he said.

The diplomat also mentioned a recently signed agreement on producing motor oils in Armenia with the use of Russian technologies and their further export to Russian market.

According to the National Statistical Committee, Armenia’s trade with Russia in the first 9 months of this year amounted to more than $3.2bln, an increase of 80.5% compared to January-September 2021. Armenian exports o Russia exceeded $1.4bln with a 2.4-fold increase, while imports from Russia amounted to $1.9bln (44.8% growth), ARKA reports.
