Russia and Armenia continue to work on rectifying the situation with the acceptance of "Mir" cards and compensating for the damage caused by pressure from the United States. Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian President, stated this at a briefing, as reported by TASS.

According to the Kremlin representative, the pressure from the United States "does not mean that we are not continuing our work with our Armenian friends on hedging our own risks and rectifying the situation." "We will continue discussions and compensation for the damage caused by this unprecedented pressure from the Americans," Peskov added.

Earlier, BMG reported that cards of the Russian payment system "Mir" stopped working at ATMs and POS terminals of most banks in Armenia since March 30, 2024, with the exception of VTB Bank Armenia. This is due to the fact that the operator of "Mir" cards fell under US sanctions in February of this year.

The Central Bank of Armenia has stated that commercial banks in the country have the right to independently decide on cooperation with various payment systems according to their risk management strategy, including sanctions.
