Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said a free-trade zone between the Russian-dominated Eurasian Economic Union and Iran would be established by the end of the year.
At a meeting on October 25 with Iranian Vice President Mohammad Mokhber in Kyrgyzstan, Mishustin said all relevant negotiations had been completed.
The Eurasian Economic Union is a customs union of states similar to the EU.
Mishustin said Iran has been an important and reliable ally of Russia for decades, and trade between Russia and Iran had grown to a record 350 billion rubles ($3.6 billion) in the previous year, RFE/RL reports.
