Company “Ka Group”, which manages several hotels in Tbilisi and the regions, says that the current situation has affected Sairme and Bakuriani the most negatively among the winter resorts.
As the founder of the company, Irakli Chigladze, told BMG, corporate events are being actively canceled, as well as tourist bookings from neighboring countries.
“The Sairme resort is distinguished by its Georgian vacationers. Given that a large part of Georgian vacationers are now on vacation or refraining from traveling, it has been hit very hard. The Sairme resort has had the worst December in its history, and the situation is similar in Bakuriani. In the case of Sairme, 70% of reservations have been canceled. In the case of Bakuriani, we depended on when the season would open, but before the season opened, these promotions began and, accordingly, reservations were not even made. Cancellations of reservations are being recorded both from Georgian vacationers and from neighboring countries, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey. In general, the December-January period is a very good period for corporate events, but at this stage all events from all large organizations, as well as from some small businesses, have been canceled.
As for Gudauri, the decline is less noticeable here. Travel companies have changed their packages and they are bringing tourists directly to the resort. Therefore, Gudauri has relatively better results,” said Irakli Chigladze.
