The Armenian State Revenue Committee has reported a successful operation to detect and prevent the illegal import of goods across the country’s state border.

At the "Agarak" customs checkpoint on the border with Iran, a truck with Armenian license plates, carrying iodized salt, was detained. During an X-ray inspection, customs officers became suspicious of hidden goods among the salt bags.

A detailed customs inspection of the truck revealed 58,750 packs of cigarettes of various brands that had been concealed in an attempt to smuggle them into the country without customs clearance.

A protocol has been drawn up regarding the violation of customs regulations, in accordance with Article 313 of the Law of the Republic of Armenia "On Customs Regulation." Administrative proceedings are currently underway regarding the case.
